The Self-Destructing Blog

The purpose of this blog is to render itself irrelevant. On it, I will be debunking rumors that Fred Cherry (the self-styled "elector of homophobia", not the war hero) spread at the expense of others in years past, which still seem to be in circulation. Given the level of blatant crankery put on display by the man, as seem in this documented account, one might imagine that such a blog would be completely unnecessary, but sad to say, this is not the case.

My hope is that people, having read the debunkings, will have the sense to not believe the rumors that the man, in a long online career, spread about so many people, wrongful accusations of pedophilia and neo-nazi affiliation level against others for no better reason than that they happened to be gay, disagreed with one of Mr.Cherry's positions, or had been seen reading the King James Bible. If people start greeting such mudslinging with a little common sense and skepticism, then I won't have anything to report, and this blog will be very ignorable and quickly forgotten.

Which, should circumstances allow, is exactly what I'm hoping for, because I do have more enjoyable things to do with my time than document such behavior and the credulity that makes it so damaging. Wish me luck?
